Dry skin has always been a hurdle to some. It can be due to a lot of factors such as heredity, stress, environment and many more. No matter what the cause is, dry skin can ruin how one looks. It can cause a lot of discomfort if very severe and ruin one’s image of themselves if left alone. Despite that, there are certain ways to sort out dry skin.
First of all, you have to identify your skin type and why dry skin happens. Certain individuals who suffer from eczema and psoriasis can have specific medications that tend to their share of extreme dry skin. However, if your share of dry skin is not as extreme, you still need to identify what your skin type is. Even if you have oily skin, that doesn’t make you immune to dry skin.
Avoid hot baths. Hot water may feel good to your skin but it actually dries your skin up pretty fast. However, if you’d like a hot bath before doing anything else, warm water will do. Try to limit your time and make sure to wash with a cleanser that is gentle to the skin and has little to no fragrance. Scented items have a lot of chemicals in them which cause irritation and also add up in drying your skin.
Moisturize your skin as often as possible. This boils down to putting on some lotion and moisturizer. A good habit to keep would be to lather some lotion right after taking a bath. While it may sound odd, you’re giving your skin the extra moisture while it’s still fresh from a bath. Always incorporate a moisturizer in your skin care regimen. As we grow older, the moisture on our skin grows less and less thus it needs a little help to maintain healthy, supple skin.
